JAKE CHENG, 18, a
MTNA national finalist in piano, is a multi-award prizewinner in such
competitions as the Cecilian Young Artist Competition, Crescendo International
Music International, the National League of Performing Arts’ National Young
Musician Showcase competition, the Music Educators Association Young Artist
and the National League of Performing Arts’ Chamber Music and Ensemble competitions.
In 2017 Jake and his longtime collaborator, Jeffrey Koc represented the eastern
United States region at the national finals of the
Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) duet performance
competition, the country's most prestigious student music competition.
Jake has performed at Carnegie
Hall, Lincoln Center, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, the Mayo Performing
Arts Center, the DiMenna Center for Classical Music, the Met in New York City,
and Drew University, amongst others. A two-time award recipient of the Mayo
Performing Arts Center Music Student Of The Month, he has been in master classes
conducted by renowned musicians Alessio Bax, duettists Dallas Weekley and
Nancy Arganbright, Douglas Humpherys, Helen Marlais and Ingrid Clarfield.
Most recently, Jake featured at the Crescent Concerts' Showcase
for Exceptionally Talented Young Artists, a New Jersey Arts Council sponsored program
recognizing outstanding musicians aged 18 and under.
